Welcome to the ASCLME Project

Over the next five years, the nine countries of the western Indian Ocean region, including Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa and Tanzania, will work together through the Agulhas and Somali Current Large Marine Ecosystems (ASCLME) project.

The ASCLME Project is about to embark on its first exciting research cruise.

This pioneering cruise will depart from Maputo in Mozambique, and will conduct research in the territoral and international waters surrounding Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and Comoros. At nearly 120 days long, this is probably one of the longest research cruises ever undertaken in the region. For more information, please visit the Cruise 2008 page.
