Steering Committee Meeting

9-11 March, 2009

The second Steering Committee Meeting of the ASCLME Project will take place in the Seychelles from the 9th to the 11th of March, 2009. This page serves as an information resource for all invited to attend. Please be sure to check it from time to time for additional important information as it becomes available.

Please note that once we have finalised accommodation in the Seychelles, this information will be placed on the website.

Visa information

No visas are required by any nationals who wish to enter the Seychelles.

The requirements are a valid passport (valid up to 6 months)

Onward return ticket

Sufficient funds for your stay

Proof of suitable accommodation for the length of your stay

Do remember that those of you who are travelling from a yellow fever area, will need a certificate of vaccination.

Seychelles - Currency

The Seychelles Rupee. The Euro, GBP and the USD are acceptable. Wherever possible, it is probably best to charge items to your credit card.

Coral Strand Hotel - accommodation

After several negotiations, we have managed to secure a hotel in the Seychelles, called the Coral Strand and they have offered extremely reasonable prices.

Coral Strand Hotel is nestled in the BEAU VALLON BAY, the most famous beach on Mahe and is only 15 km away from the international airport and 5 km from Victoria, the exotic capital of the Seychelles Islands. The hotel boasts 130 rooms and is an international meeting point and the cultural centre of Mahe for visitors from all over the world.

A shuttle service has been organised to and from the airport. Please look out for the person with the ASCLME sign.

Please note a block booking has been made for the ASCLME conference. You will need to contact the hotel directly to book a room. You will need to confirm the type of room you wish to book. Should you not specify your room, a room will be allocated for you.

There are two types of rooms available at the special rates to delegates:-

The Superior has tea and coffee facilities; seating facilities (a small lounge with table and couch), aircon; balcony
The standard rooms have aircon, desk and chair only, no balcony

*Standard room sea view:*
- Single on BB: 115 USD per room per night
- Double on BB: 130 USD per room per night

*Superior room sea view:*
- Single on BB: 130 USD per room per night
- Double on BB: 145 USD per room per night

Please note that there are not many superior rooms available, so it will be up to you to notify the hotel accordingly.

Conference Facility

All three conferences will take place at the International Conference Centre of the Seychelles (ICCS)

Monday 9th March – WIOLaB and ASCLME combined meeting – 60pax
Tuesday 10th March – Parallel meetings - ASCLME = 32 delegates; WIOLaB = 26 delegates
Wednesday 11th March - Parallel meetings - ASCLME = 32 delegates; WIOLaB = 26 delegates

Buses have been hired to take all delegates to and from the hotel on a daily basis.
